The Sea Harvest Kids for Kids initiative
Have you heard about our Kids for Kids Initiative, Fish Lovers? For the past 7 years, we’ve partnered with the Children’s Hospital Trust in our vision to see the lives of children changed for the good. This year, we will continue to support this heartwarming initiative that takes place between 01 November 2017 to 28 February 2018. We’ve committed to raise R300 000 this year!
The Children’s Hospital Trust is an independent, non-profit organisation that relies on the benevolence of donors. They believe that every day spent in hospital is a day less of childhood so their aim is to get sick children back home, happy and healthy with their families. One hundred percent of all donations received go towards projects and programmes they fund. Not a cent is used for any administration or operational expenses.
The Children’s Hospital Trust has received more than R2.1 million through the Sea Harvest Kids 4 Kids initiative over the past 7 years. In addition to supporting the Weekend Waiting List initiative previously in 2014, funds have been used to purchase a giraffe warmer machine and for building renovations and upgrades to the Surgical Skills Unit, the general medical ward, the radiology complex, the paediatric ICU and the establishment of a child safe centre.
This year’s money raised will go towards the Weekend Waiting List Initiative, where the long waiting list for non-critical surgeries is tackled on Saturdays. This initiative was established to address the lengthy waiting list by adding an additional day of surgeries on a Saturday to the hospital’s operating schedule. The result? Less volumes of minor cases and more scope and flexibility for more complex cases to be attended to during the week.
You can get involved and help us by simply purchasing selected Sea Harvest crumbed products. Look out for the Kids for Kids sticker on pack in stores.
There is nothing more rewarding than helping others. It is our pleasure to continue supporting the Red Cross War Memorial Children’s Hospital so that its young patients can have the excellent medical treatment that they desperately need.
